Bombay v. Buckland.
The Buckland Club entertained the Bombay Club on Saturday, and in the presence of a goodly company of spectators a fine series of games resulted in victory for the Bombay representatives. The foil wing were the scores, the Bucklaud players being mentioned first in each instance, viz.:—
Gents' Doubles: L. and A. Bilkey lost to A. Smith and Proude, 5—9; H. Leighton and Hamilton lost to Corbett and Donaboe, o—9; A. Smith and C. Leighton lost to Corntbwaite and Richards, 4—9. Ladies 1 doubles—Misses Leighton and Droy lost to Mrß Corbett and Miss Wilks, 5—9; Misses Bagnall and Allen lost to Misses Masefield and Clements, 8-9. Combined doubles—A. Bilkey and Miss D. Leigh'on beat Corbett and Mrs Corbett, 9—3; L. Bilkey and Miss M. Droy lost to Proude and Miss Wilks, 3—9; H. Leighton and Miss Bagnall lost to Smith and Misa Masefield, 3—9; Hamilton aDd Miss Neal lost to Donahoe and Mrs Pioude, 2—9; A. Smith and Miss Neal lost to Cornthwaite and Miss Clements, 3—9; W. Bilkey and Miss Home lost to Kichards and Mrs Proude, 5—9. Papatoetoe v. Pukekohe. The annual tennis match between the Pukekohe and Papatofctoe Tennis Clubs was played on the latter's courts on Saturday last, and resulted in a win for the home team by 7 matches to 3 (two being unfinished), or 133 games to 102. Tne following are the detailed scores, Papatoetoe players being named first:—
Ladies' doubles -Misses Wyllie and Carruth beat Mrs Wake and Miss Bilkey, 6—'J, 6—4; Misses Weston and D. Hodge beat Miss Ease and Miss Batty, G—l, 6—l; Mrs McCullough and Mie Larsen beat Miss Freeman and Mrs Motion, 6—3, 3—6, 6—4. Men's doubles —Andrews and S. Wylie lost to Hopkins and Marsack, 6—4, 4—6, 3—6; Perham and Hodge lost to Corbttt and Bockett, 3—6, 2—6; Larsen and H. Wyllie beat Johns and Mason, 6—3, 6—3. Combined doubles—Miss Wyllie ana Andrews lost to Mrs Wake and Marsack, 6—3, 4—6, 3—6; Miss Carrutb and S. Wylie beat Miss Bilkey and Hopkins, 6—4, 6—5; Mi ss Weston and Perham beat MiBS Esse and Corbett, 6—2, 6—3; Miss Hodge and Hodge versus Miss Batty and Bockett, 6—2, 3—5, unfinished; Mrs McCullough and Larsen versus Miss Freeman anu Johns, 2-6, 4—2, unfinished; Mrs Larsen and H, Wyllie beaf Mrs Pyne and Mason, 6—l, 6—4.
