WEDDING BELLS.
Carter-Pope. A wodding of more than usual local interest took place in Maungatawhiri Valley on February 3rd, the contracting parties being Miss Alice Pope, second daughter of Mr C. Pope, of Maungatawhiri, and Mr W. Carter, of Mercer. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. H. Johnson, of Whangarei, an old friend of the bride and groom. The bride looked very charming in a handsome dress of white pailette silk trimmed with silk lace and insertion, and she wore the orthodox veil,, of orange blossoms. , j^Kj,' The principal bridesmaid was Miss Annie Pope, sister of the bride, who wore a dainty gown of white embroidery. Mr W. Carter, of Wawanga, acted as beat man. After the ceremony the numerous guests adjourned to a large marquee where the wedding breakfast was served. A lengthy toast list was duly honourel, many flattering ref erences being nude to the nappy couple. Good proof of the high esteem in which the young couple are held was furnished by the many valuable presents received. The day's tea ivities terminated with a dance in thi Mercer Hall, the company being the guests of Mr S. Carter, of Mercer. With good irnisi", Mot ond supper a very enjoyable time was spent.
