STOCK SALES.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., reports : At Waiuku yards on Saturday we held their usual monthly sale. There was a small yarding, and prices were on a par with late sales. Dairy cows, to £5; empty cows, £3 10s to £6; three-year-old steers, to £8 19s; yearling steers, £3 3s to £4 ss; calves, good 25s to 335, others 10s to 20s; bulls, £3 10s to £7; pigs, 5s to 245. Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons held our usual monthly sales at Pokeno on Monday, January 18th, and Runciman on Tuesday, January 19tb. At both places there was full yarding of stock. Buyers were in attendanco. All classes with the exception of heifers were in demand. Calves especially sold well. Dairy cows and heifers, £6 to £9 Is; fat cows an heifers, £5 10s to £8 17s 6d; empty cows, £3 to £4 15s; 3-year-old steers, £7 2s; 18-months to 2-year-olds, £3 18s to £5 15s; yearling steers, £3 3b to £3 10s; good calves, £2 5s to £2 13s, smaller £1 13s to £2, others £1 5s to £1 10s, weedy 10a to £1 Is; yearling to 18-monthi heifers, £2 5s to £3 10s; bulls. £5 to £8 10s. At the Westfield yards on Wednesday a draft of 32 steers from Messrs Friedlander Bros., Surrey Farm, Pokeno, small but well fatted, sold at an average of £l4 12s 3d per head.
