VALEDICTORY SOCIAL

The Rev. C. A. Vaugban, who ia leaving Waiuku parish for Mount Albert, Auckland, was, with Mrs Vaugban, tendered a valedictory social on Tuesday of last week in the Parish Hall. There was a good attendance, including the local ministers of other denominations. Mr W. Farellv presided. During thhe evening the chairman, on behalf of the parishioners, presented to Mr Vaugfean a beautifully framed and engrossed address. Another presentation made to Mr Vaugban was a purse of sovereigns by Mr John Chandler on behalf of friends and parishioners. The girls of the Sunday school, per medium of Miaass Nellie McFadyn and Maggie Smith, made a presentation to Mrs Vaugban of a beautiful dressing outfit, also a clock, accompanied by an address of appreciation of her various activities. A programme of musical items was included in the proceedings, and there were speeches of esteem for Mr and Mrs Vaugban, which met with appropiiate reply The following contributed to the programme:—Misses Mudge, Muir, Nell!, White, Mrs Vaugban, Rev. Father Skinner and Rev. J A. Cable. Judging by the encores the various items were highly appreciated. Refreshments were provided by the ladies and met with every attention. The function passed off very successfully and proved of an enjoyable nature.
