METHODIST SUNDAY SCHOOL PICNIC.
The Sunday school children of the Pukekohe Methodist Church, parents and fri nds to the number of 150, spent a most pleasant outing st the children's snnual picnic, held on Mr E. Koosj's farm, on boxing Day.
The children wtra driven to the ground in a brake B'jpplied gratis fur the day by Mr A. E. Wilkinson, the horeei being kindly lent by Mr T. Hurley. I hey left from the Sunday school at 9 a.m., returning from the ground at 6.30 p.m.— after thoroughly enjoying themselves playing games and taking part in rnnning eventi. Mr Hoise supplied the children during the day with fruit and the parents with hot water.
The catering was uider tho capable management of Mr P. Perkins, the Sunday school teachers and the ladies of the congregation assisting. The following officials controlled the running events: Messrs J. B. Rowe, judge; L. Corarie and A. Asburst, handicsppers and starters; and E. Smith and J. Hunter in charge of the tape.
The Rev. G. Frost pr. Ranted the priz.es woo by the children during the day on the ground, and before leaving hj; called for three cheers for Mr Roose for his attention during the day and also for the use of his paddock.
The results of the ra:ca were as follows: Scholars' Ra:e : Mr .1. Hunter's clasd, boys. 50yds, Gordon Brownlce and Stanley McKinnon tied. Miss Usher's class, small girls, 25 yards, C. Harper 1, Eth.l Honeyford 2| consolation priz\ McCormick. Miss Routley's class, girls, 40yds, Jean Hunter 1, Flossie Ruwe 2. Miss Goldsworthy's diss, boys, 76yds, H. Wright 1, Howard Hunter 2. Mies Pilkington's class, girls, 25yd*, Doris Wright 1, U. Laundy 2. Miss Usher's clsss, boys, 30yds, section 1., Cecil McKinnon 1, Joe Hunter 2; section 11., George Pilkington 1, K. Wright 2. Threelegged race, open to boys and girls, Jean Hunter and Hazel Linnay 1, Howard Hunter and Gordon Brownlee 2. Race for boys who had not won prizes, Nelson Crispe l,John Pilkington 2. Race for girls who had not won prizes, Edith Pilkington 1, Myrtle Wright 2. In the High Jump Percy Couirio came tirst with Charles Rowo a good second.
The unsuccessful luuuerj, were supplied with lollies. As a result of the brake enl horses beiug lent free of charge a sum amounting to 10 4, which wai put asido for the hire of the same, will be forwarded to the Auckland District Belgian Relief Fund.
