The Rev. Charles Vaoghan, who has been for the last four years Vicat of Waiuku and Mauku, has been appointed to the Mt. On Wednesday afternoon a number of tbe parishioners of St. Bride's Church gathered at the boose of one of their number for the purpose of bidding farewell to their Vicar and Mrs Vaughan. A pleasant afternoon was spent, the suests being entertained with music and singirg and afternoon tea.
On Christmas night Mr Vaugban preached his farewell seimon at St. Bride's to a very large congregation. He expressed his regret at having to leave so many friends, and emphasised his appreciation of the cordial relations that existed between bim and hia parishioners. During his stay among them he had endeavoured to do his best, and if he could think that any poor words of bis had helped his flock he would feel amply rewarded. At the conclusion of the service, the Vicar was the recipient of a puree of sovereigns, subscribed by members of tha congregation.
