WAIUKU SCHOOL.

Prior to the breaking-up for the mid-summer holidays on Friday a school concert was held at the school, in which most of the children participated. The occasion was also taken to present the certificates of proficiency, Standard VI., won by pupils at the recent examination The following were the successful pupils Gladys Rossiter, Vera West, Alice Davis, Vera Kidd, John Williams, Harvey Cook, Stanley Harvey, Henry May, Gordon Mearns and George Barr. The school will re-open on Monday, February Ist. SCHOOL ENLARGEMENT The district member of the Education Board (Mr C. T. Barriball) advises that the desired enlargements at Waiuku School are expected to be taken in hand shortly. At last Board meeting the inspector reported favourably in regard to L. addition asked for, and the matter was considered by the Board. Eventually it was decided to apply to the Education Department for a grant for the proposed work and invite tenders for same.
