• The following references to exhibits at the Pukekoho Mowim Show, on Thursday and Friday <■ was omitted by reason of wai ■pace from the report of [\m hofl that appeared in our last aeuV viz. : Considering the dry season experieoced this year the vegetables were of excellent qu lity. A fine range of potatoes a.,d early green onions, green peas and cabbages being noticeable. Mr Baxter's exhibit of onions and green peas was a remarkably good exhibit and Mr J. B. B.own'e entry of 21 varieties of vegetables was admirable. The fruit cliasea attracted strong competition. Mr John Collins senr., Tuakau, was awarded first place in the 9 varieties of fruit section, and Mr C. H. Parker, Kemuera, second place. Tbe various collections were exceedingly good for the time of year. Mr Parker was also successful in the strawberry section, gaining no lets than three prizes, first seonti and third Master Stanley Fenny was h.C The collection of gooseberries was of excellent merit, Mr J. B. Brown securing first placi and Master E. J. Gillon, Mauku. second place. In the section for children, tbe writing compititian was competed for by ro less than 17 yuung aspirants. The standard and quality of the w)ik was high-class, some of the exhibitors showing execp. tional promise. The decorated parasol* was contested for by 12 competitors, the Misses A. Simpson and J. Hunter being bracketed equal" for first place. In the decorated doll's perambulator Mi's M. Simpson annexed first place with a pram very prettily decorated with crimson ramblers. Honours in the writing competition fell to Leslie Koadley first place and Alice Berriman second. Plasticene work, by infants, was exhibited for the first time in Pukekohe and culled for a fair amount of attention during the day and evening. The exhibits consisted of 6 kinds of fruit each-Master W. Brown being awarded first prize. Of the nine entries for tha gent's buttonhole competition May Potter won with three sprays of sweet ocas, asparagus and button roses. The decorated basket competition was responsible for five entries, a basket decorated with splashed sweet peas and asparagus, by Miss Louisa Potter, being judged first, and Edna Will cocks'' decorated basket of pink coloured sweet peas being awarded second place. In the bowl of flowers competition Grace Potter was awarded first for her exhibit of sweet peas and asparagus, and Edna Willcecks second. A very pretty exhibit was tbe floral anchor exhibited by Doris Willcocks, for girls under 14 years of age. and this was justly given the. first prize. The imaginative drawing contest ("Jack and Jill"(, for infants, brought forward 10 entries, Phyllis Reekie being the tuccessful contestant. For Map of North America (drawing), Cecil Hay, with a very creditable exhibit, was awarded first place and for crayon drawing, infanta, Vera Melville alsa gained first honours. Some very meritorious specimens of woodwork and drawing were on view from the pupils of the Pukekohe Manual Training School. There were nine exhibiti in thia section, all of which were of a more advanced stage than those of last year. In Standard 4 section, Ray Marshall was awarded first prize, and ia Standards 6 and 6 Andrew Gulland and Maxwell Ewing won first honours respectively. Mr J. S. Willc cks waa very* successful in the carving section, being awarded first and special mdntiou for a handsome relief carved fire screen, and tint and special for a tea tray, combined relief and chip carving. For article of woodwork tha same exhibitor was awarded first and special for a cabinet.
An exhibit that drew a good deal of attention was a collection uf oil paintings by Matter L. Roadlcy. A conaiderable amount of interest was taken in the needlework section and the judge was very favourably impressed with the quality of the exhibits. A tible centre, not for competition, shown by Miss Grace Gomrit:, was greatly admired and the same lady won for Moont Mellick tushion. Mrs E. Appleby, Buckland, was another very successful exhibitor, being awarded four first prizes and two records out of seven ent i?». Mrs Allinghsm'i exhibit of a canvas table centre (which wss awarded first place in ! competition at the Horticultural Show, Rama Rama, recently), again secured the same distinction. Mrs E. T. Crump, Tc Kuitl, won first and second for her exhibits in the crochet section, and was awarded another first in the linen quilt section. These were her only exhibits. Mrs Jones, wbo exhibited for the first time at a Horticultural Show in . Pukekohe, secured first honours f. r her exhibit of a camisole top and second for a cosy. Mrs J. Taylor's exhibit of a splashwork tidy (which was awarded second prize in the m?st original section at the last Waikato A. and P. Association's Show) gained second prize for piece of work not specified, and the machining in the work was remarked on by the judge aa being exceptionally good. Mill Hett, Rama Rama, was awarded first prize for her stencil painting of beautiful colours.
