TUAKAU.

BELGIAN RELIEF FUND CONCERI.

The local ball was full to overflowing for the first time since its enlargement on Wednesday last, on the occasion of the above concert, which had been promoted by the Tuakau Town Board, the chairman, Mr Dynes Fulton, presiding. Every item upon the programme was well received, particularly the excellent tableau and marches arranged by Mis Hunter, tJhese were mostly of a patriotic nature, the colours ol the allies predominating. The programme was arranged as follows: National Anthem, Tuakau Band; ■olo, Mr Scott; recitation, Mr Revel 1; flag march, Hags of the allies; song, "The Death of Nelson," Mr Mollfcrd; song, "True Till Death," Mr McKay; glee, by choir; monologue, Miss Pepper; solo and chorus, "Private Tommy Atkins,'' Sergeants Ryder and Dyer -Miss Deeble and Nurse Hunter; comic solo, Mr O'Malley; lantern march, children; solo. Mr Kernot; solo, Mr Wilson; Japanese actioß, arranged by Mrs Hunter; clanonette solo, Baudmaster Hall; solo, "It's a Long Way to Tipperary," Mr McKav, to which the audience joined heartily in the chorus; recitation, Mr AliEon; tableau, in which every member of the British Empire was represented, uniforms and dress in each case thoroughly representative. Durirg the evening Mr Olsen, of Onewhero, delivered a short but eloquent speech in favour of our Belgian allies. No better effort on this subject has been heard in Tuakau.

The chairman, in thanking those who had assisted so readily specially mentioned Mr Kevell for free use of the hall, Mr Prescott for crockery, Mr W. H. Northmore tea and sugar, visiting artists who bad come some distance to assist, and lastly Mrs Hunter for her untiring effort in contributing so largely to the success of the programme, all of which was accomplished at short notice.

£ The programme, which did not conclude until 11 p.m., was followed by a most successful dance, which was kept up to 2 a.m. As a result of the effort the Belgian Fund will benefit to the extent of about £23. This includes a private donation and sale of Belgian buttons, undertaken during the concert by the Misses Lewis and Smeed.
