CONVENT SCHOOL ENTERTAINMENT.

The pupils of the Pukekohe Convent School repeated last evening, in the Premier Hall, for the benefit of the local Belgian Relief Fund, the successful entertainment given by them a month ago, and as a result the Relief Fund will receive n welcome addition of something like £32.

The attendance, as was the case on the previous occasion, was large, there being very fen vacant seats when the curtain rose.

The programme consisted of 25 vocal, instrumental, dance, dialogue, elocutionary and comic items. The stage, which was prettily decorated with tree ferns and bunting, made a charming background to the pretty costumes worn by the young performers, and the effect was rendered all the more attractive by the coloured lights thrown on the scene from the front of the hall by Mr Russell.

The efforts of Masters G. Fitness, F. Hogan, F. Costello, M. Hickey, and D. Kerrigan in the song "Please Give Me a Penny, Sir," resulted in 23a lid in small coin being thrown en the stage by the audience.

The following changes in the programme made since the previous performance were greatly appreciated:—Comic dialogue, "Help in Need," Maßters J. Hogan and M. Hay ward: recitation, "The Amateur Hidar," Master E. Costello; dialogue, "Elihu," Misß M. Kayes and G. Flavell; and song, "Ora Pro Nobis"—soloist Miss K. Pulman, orphan Miss I. Williams, angels Misses L. O'Connor, N. Hawke, A. and J. Carter.

The Mayor, Mr C. K. Lawrie, during the evening thanked the Sisters of the Catholic Convent for their assistance that night in helping the Belgian Belief Fund, and congratulated them on the success attained from their arduous work of preparation.
