An amusing account was given to a reporter of the "Times'" recently by a Minister of the Crown, concerning complaints mace by some of the German prisoners of war at Somes' Island, in Wellington harbour. The Minister made a special trip to the Island to look is.to the matter for himself. A former Samoan ollicial said that when he was first taken to the island he felt the cold seven ly, but was now getting used to it, acd fearei that unless he was allowed to leave he would find the hat of Samoa equally trying when he went back to resume bis dutie?. Ag the precision of the equinoxes takes about 53,2U0 years, and scientists calculate that in about half that lime the polar ice cap will have teached the neighcuihocd of Samoa, His Sirene Highness r.ecd not be concerned. The coming of the ice and hia resumption of his cfHcial dutits will about coincide.
