THE TELEPHONE SERVICE.
Improved Facilities Secured
With the applications now on hand and the 'phones installed the number of subscribers to the local btreau numbers 52. This practically ensures an 8 to S service, a district being entitled to such privilege by tbe total of subscribers reaching 50 at the bureau. Not only has Waiuku now passed the necessary number, but there in every indication of more 'phones being installed by progressive business men and settler?, who recognise the convenience it provides. The latest subscribers are Messrs H.. J. Fenwick, W. G. Woodward, A. Bull and G. Braun on a private line from Waiuku. The institution of an 8 to 8 service shows another instance of the spirit of progress dominating Waiuku affairs. The extra hours of telephone communication should remove some of the congestion that frequently occurs in the ordinary office hours, and avoid the great inconvenience ot "long waits" and loss involved to users of the service under present conditions.
