UP-TO-DATE PICTURES.
Notable amongst the progressive concerns in Pukekohe are the Lyceum Pictures, at the Premier Hall, The projection of tbe pictures and the general surroundings compare most favourably with the majority of similar places ot entertainment in the city and are far in advance of the average country show. Mr Coady, the genial manager, is ever ready to meet the comfort and desires of his patrons, with whom he is deservedly popular. A glance around the hall shows a new enginehouse detached from the main building; this contains an up-to-date 12.16 horse-power engine, and a modern electric generator capable of supplying ample current for the lighting of the theatre and an ample supply for the biograph arc. A glimpse into the operating box is quite a revelation to the uninitiated. Here is a large switchboard giving the operator complete control of all lights, also powerful lesistance coils, Field Rheostal electric fan and a modern all-British biograph of the very latest type. At the rear of the hall is a line big room which serves as a film room and general work-room. In it are the filmwinding apparatus, and all the appliances for dealing with films and making up the programmes. Altogether, the whole outfit is well up-to-date, and a visit over the show with Mr Coady is quite an education.
