DRURY ROAD BOARD.

At The October Meeting.

There were present at Saturday's ' meeting—Messrs Glasson (chairman), ! Bremner, McNaughton, Brooks ! and Quinn. I WAIHOEHOE KOAD. The chairman reported that Mr ! Cossey had not entertained the tiler jof the Board for stone for this j rosd. As there was a lot of stone j this sida of Girdwood's he would j suggest that the surfaceman give j the 6tone a trial either by day labour or at so much a yard. The surfaceman had offered to spawl the metal where it is at 3s shillings per yard, or deliver spawls at Cossey's corner for 4s per yard, or he would do the woik at 9s a day. The chairman thought thev might be able to get tha stcr.e crusher up to the quarry. It was decided, on the motion of Mr Quinn, seconded by Mr Brooks, to accept the offer to do the woik at 9s per day. COSSEY'S ROAD. Whether one or two culverts were required on Herbert Cossey's road provided some discussion. The chairman expressed the opinion that the Board would have to carry cut thpir previous preposal to no a little formirg round the corner and put in two culverts. The only other way was to continue t> let it slide. Mr Brooks: That's not satisfactory. The chairman: It's not eatisfactory, nor is it a good w&y Mr Brotks did not tbitk it would suit either of the people interested to have both culverts. The cbairmau:.lt does not matter who it suits; it's the question of what's the right thing. Mr Bremner thought if they put in one culvert they would require a second. He did not know if it would be fair to J. Appleby to lift the present culvert as he had put in a ditch to connect with it. Mr Brooks raised the point whether by jutting in a second culvert they would not be hading watsr on to Mr Horton's property. The chairman said the water was goirg on to Mr Horton's property at present. Any drain which had been in a certain time was recognised as a legal watercourse. Mr McNaughton wanted to know if the second culvert would benefit the road. Mr Cossevi who at this stage entered the room, was unable to further enlighten the Board as to the direction the water would take, but was in favour of ptrtttnr <tewfl two culverts. Finally the chairman, Messrs Bremner and Brooks were appointed to inspect the road and were given power to act. GENERAL. It was agreed to pay Mr McKinstry 8s per yard for spawls delivered on Beach road. Mr Coldicott offered to supply the Board with what metal they may require between J. Cossey's gate and Warren's hill at 6s per yard.—Offer accepted. Mr Coldicott asked if the Board would undertake to form a portion of the road known as Cossey's road.— Matter left in the hands of Messrs Glasson, Brcoks and Bremner. The chairman reported the result of the Board's by-law court case, which he considered was most satisfactory from the Board's point of view.
