TUAKAU.

LADIES' PATRIOTIC FUND. The Biim of £24 2a has been collected by the ladies' committee of the above fund. Members meet next Thursday to decide the purpose for which the fund is to be used. AN OVERCROWDED SCHOOL. It is understood that the accommodation at the Tuakau South school is severely taxed. The schoolroom measures about 40 x 20, its full capacity being about 80. There are at present 110 scholars on the roll with an average attendance of 94. By the end of tho present month the roll number should reach 120. The schoolroom, besides having a 94 average attendance, finds room for cupboard, black board, two tables and three teachers. It is clear from these figures that an extension in Bome direction must be made in the near future. FOOTBALL SOCIAL A highly successful function held under the auspices of tho local Football Club was held on Wednesday evening. Mr Dynes Fulton, chairman of the Tuakau Town Board, ably presided. The feature of tho evening was the presentation of medals to players in the Tuakau team as winners of the Cup for the 1914 season. Football enthusiasts will remember that the Cup in question was presented by Mr M. Foley to be won three times in succession or five times at intervals. Recent holders were " United " (Mercer and Pokeno), The following players were present to receive their medals : Dynes Fulton, J. McGuire, F. McGuire, Arthur Smeed, Chas. Smeed, Norman Smeed, K. Boyd (capt), W. Deeble, Reston, Lindner, A. Lapwood, S. Collins, Lapanovitch, B. Mad ill, C. H. Parker, J. Geraghty, R. Glasgow, R. Cranston andHinton. The last four players named are the Onewhero representatives of the team and it is safe to say that the team owe a large measure of theit success to this quartette. Mr B. Clark, also a medallist, is a member of the Expeditionary Force and was consequently unable to be present. The president of the Club, Mr A. Madill, sent an apology for his absence and enclosed a donation. The club secretary, Mr Graham, was presented with a handsome silver hot water kettle as a token of the esteem felt by his fellow members. Mr Graham suitably responded. Dancing, which was kept up until tho small hours, was indulged in by the fifty couples present, Mr L. Stevenson making an efficient accompanist. Extras were played by Miss Mayall. Excellent refreshments were provided, tho arrangements and work in this connection being carried out very successfully l>y members of the team. Altogether tho function was a most successful one and as the chairman remarked the team must keep together and endeavour to accomplish a similar result next season. TUAKAU TENNIS CLUB ANNUAL MEETING.
