TUAKAU.
ACCIDENT
A rather s;rioua accident befel Mr C. Andrews, carter for Mr P. A. Rowe, on Wednesday. It appears that Andrews was doing bis usual delivery work when his cart wheel ran into a bad rut, throwire: the driver, who was sitting on a box at the back of the cart, out on his shoulder, resulting in a bad dislocation. OLD LAND MARK. The old creamery building, after doing service for a number ot years, is being dismantled. When removed the view of trains approaching the crossing will be less restricted. It will also be possible to improve the road and footpath levels on the side adjoining the creamery. Mr P. Macpherson, builder, Tuakau, was the successful tenderer for dismantling the old building.
DRURY.
EUCHRE PARTY
The fortnightly euchre party still thrives. There was a bumper house on Tuesday evening. Miss Lizzie Hamilton won the ladies' first prize and Mr W. Tooman carried off the men's, THE MILKING INDUSTRY.
The supply of milk at the local creamery is rapidly increasing. Mr Cummings, the manager, has plenty of work for bis two large machines, notwithstanding the opposition of the home separator and the city milk purchaser. CRY FOR RAIN.
A little raiu would be very welcome. Ihe weatber lately has been most enjoyable, but not the best for the pastures, which are generally not as good as they should be.
HUNTLY MINE DISASTER. Many of the Drury residents were shucked and grieved to learn that the names of Mr .1. Holden and Messrs Jackson Brothers were among the victims of the Huntly disaster. The deceased minern were well known in Drury, having been employed for some time at the Drury mine when it was in operation. The late Mi Holden, with his wife and family, lived in Drury for several years. He was a man of quiet and retiring habits, respected and liked by all. He was for some years a members of the Drury School Committee. The writer had not the pleasure of Messrs Jacksons' acquaintance, but understands that they were men of sterling character. Much sympathy is felt for the bereaved relatives.
