PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD.
The September Meeting. There were picsent at Monday Light's mdtting: Alessis Willis! (chairman), Richardson, Smith and \ Stewart. THE CEMETERY. The chairman reported that Mr Holt would be prepared to survey the cemetery towardß the end of J the month. RIDING ON FOOTPATHS. VV. McLean waited on the Hoard to ask what steps could be taktn j io prevent the public riding and driving on footpaths. The chairman explained that the by-laws dealt with thi?, but putting : them into force was another thing. Any ratepayer cculd lay an ir>forma- j tion and he thought it was just as much the ratepayers' duty to pro- j tect their paths as the Board's. "If you will lay an information against j s.rne of the offendtrs you will do the Board a great service," addtd j the chairman. OVERHANGING TREES. It was decided to give J. Carr notice to cut down tteeß in Ranfurly road. THE VILLAGE GREEN. The laying out of the Village Green was discussed, and it waß the opinion of members that Mr i Hclt should be asked to survey and | lay out the green. A motion in this direction was carried. THE BEACH. The Marine Department wroti to the Board's solicitor that it will raise no objection to the Town Board i obtaining necessary legislative authority fcr the vesting of the Fapakura beach in the Town Boaid. KIRKS BUSH. The Prime Minister replied to the Board' 9 application for a subsidy towards the proposed purchase of Kirk's Bush for a domain, saying that he would give the matter careful consideration. Prior to coming to a decision he was obtaining a report from the Scenery Preservation Board.—"Well, I think that's satisfactory," remarked the chairman; "as I think their report will be satisfactory." GUAM'S. The application of the Board for grants of £l5O and £IOO, for the Great South road and McLennan'9 dill respectively, are to be given consideration when the Public Works Estimates are being prepared. SUB-DIVISION. The Diocepan Trust forwarded a fresh plan ot the proposed subdivision of church land at Papakura. —Plan approved. Lands and Survey Department offered to " excha'ge section 148, which the Town Board had on previous occasions applied to have handed over as an endowment, for a town endowment of equal value. NOXIOUS WLEDS. The Board resolved to give a number of residents notice to clear their properties of noxious weeds. WORKS REQUIRED. The chairman thought that it might be lei't as a recommendation to the incoming Board that the following works be undertaken :- Metalling Ranfurly load; forming King Edward and Arawa roads and Chapel street: footaridge near Mrs , Russell; to complete Carpenter road. —A resolution to this effect was carried. DOMINION ROAD. It was decided to put the grader I tj work on Dominion road. CLERK'S SALARY. On the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr Richa'dson, it was decided to increase the clerk's salary by i's per year.
