A Satisfactory Improvement
It is pleasing to be able to rcnort that the herd-testing durirg l-st year by the New Zealand Dairy Association showed an improvement in butter-fat yield as compared with the previous season. This is due partly to improvements in herds, and alro to the better weather corditions of the year. During ten months of the past year the average butter-fat yield per cow of sll the cowa tested was 283.601b, for the previous jcar 208.&51 be, increase 74.751b5. The best herd tested for ten months for the past year averaged per cow 384.3#1ba, for the previous year 327.351b?, increase 20. lOlbp.
Ih3 worst herd tested for t n months for the past year average ! per cow 207,.341b?, for the previous year 137.331b5, increase 70.01 lbs. The best cow tested the past ytar gave a ten months yield of 502.541b5, for the previous year 406.441bp, increase 96. lOlbs.
The worst cow tested for the pabt year yielded lOO.lOlbs, for the previous year 73.661b5, increase 35.44 lbs.
