The British Empire At War AN APPEAL TO FARMERS - - Made by THE BRITISH AUTHORITIES and endorsed by ihe HON. THE PRIME MINISTER of our DOMINION for the production of FARM PRODUCE so as to minimise the risk of a shortage of FOOD SUPPLIES and FORAGE. We have given this very important APPEAL uttr earnest consideration, and have decided that in a NATIONAL CRISIS (such as at present exists; it is our privilege to acknowledge the benefit* we owe by living iu a Dominion favoured by the protection of the BRITISH FLAG, and that it is our DUTY to assist so far as our linances will allow the FARM EES of this DISTRICT. Foitunatdy we have Mr Wm. Koulston personally with us to give us his assistance in our deliberations, and so as to strengthen our business liuaaces and to meet the strain that will bo placod up >n thorn, Mr lioulstoii lias consented to the transfer of some of his private resources, so we are now iu a position to meet any extraordinary exigencies to help Farmers and the EMPIRE. Farmers who may have land at their disposal and who may require extended credit, are cordially invited to wait on our office managers so as vj make the necessary arrangements for such extended credit. Wo wish to EMPHASIZE the fact that FARMERS must judge and consider what they will do in this matter_ AVe on cur part are prepared and willing to assist them, but the questions of obligations and of risk farmers themselves must decide. Wo farther desire to mentiun that Farmers desiring to pay cash for Seeds and Manure will be aUowed a cash discount. At the same time wo wish to assure Farmers who require credit, that our rate of profit will be in accordance with our previous mode of business and that pricey will in no way be inflated.
