THE TORA WHARF.
A Settler's Protest.
L. Lever, one of "the old subscribers" to the Tora shed fund, writes us folllows: - , "If the Franklin County Councillors would pay a visit to Tora wharf and inspect the shed they would rot hesitate over the matter one bit. Fancy a shed 8 feet by 6 feet to accommodate manures, produce, etc. It is a treat to get your goods when shed and wharf are packed. Fancy starting to handle a ton of manure when the shed is full to the top acd yours is at the bottom. If a d e cent shed were built goods could ba much more eaßily handled. The wharf in the first place was a Government grant, and the early fetlers subscribed lor the' picsent shed, so it has not fallen on the local bodies to c:ntnbute before, and in this case the petitioners only asked for building materials, the labour being given gratis. Not such a long time ago, If I remember aright, the sum of £2O was granted without murmur to the Pukekohe Technical Schcol, we being called upon fo help out of our ratef, and now the Council hum! and ha! because we ask for a suitable storage which is juet as needful to us as the school in Pukekohe; in fact, more so, as year after year manures are spoilt owing to insufficient wharf accommodation. Cr Henry will ro doubt remember the time it was erected; I do not know if he subscribed at that time, j hplieve he did."
