PATUMAHOE.
CATHOLIC SOCIAL,
A very enjoyabh evening was held in the Patumahoe hall on Thursday evening lait, the occasion being a social held in aid of the funds of the Patumahoe Catholic Church.
Father Molloy, who hud promised to attend, was unavoidably detained at the last moment, but nevertheless all arrangements were successfully carried through by a hard-working and energetic committee. Credit is particularly due to Mrs White, she having had considerable experience at this work, which probably accounted for all the details being arranged so thoroughly. Miss Bailey and Mr W. Howard also worked strenuously to make the social such a success. The r'ance programme was very lengthy and contained several new and up-to-date items, even a ballroom tango finding reaJy response. Vocal items were render.d as follows:—Mrs Robinson, "Killarney"; Miss D. Howard, "Will the Angels Let Me Play"; Mr Jacka, "Silvar Bells; Mr Phillipps, "Just. Phin folks." As M 'sC., Mesera Howard and Sbeppard did good work, and kept the evening going at msrry pace. About midnight an excellent supper was hand d round, the various delicacies having been tastefully prepared at Messrs P. Henry and Son's bakery. It was net till the email hours of the morning that the last of the dancers made their way homewards. A substantial amount was netted for the church funds.
