Mercer, Diiuklaml, Tuakau, Waiuku, l'ukekohe—the districts of which we have report at tho time of writing—are answering handsomely. We are glad to see that this district, in common with all New Zealand, is maintaining a reasonable calm despite the stupendous issues at stak«. L»t us not exhaust all our energy mid enthusiasm now. A lirst call has been made. It would be wise, when this call is met, to take a short breathing space. It may yet bo the duty and the privilege of many of in to mike not merely our gif's of money but the Supreme Sacrifice. Meanwhile, without panic aud without affright let us present a calm, determined and united front in support of New XuLndand tho great nation to which we belong. Above all, whilst attuning our hearts and minds to meet any emergency, h t us for the time being apply ourselves t> our daily work with patience mid with industry. After uur giving, it is in that way that those of us who are non-combatants can best sjiveour Empire.
