Works Committee's Proposals.

At a recout meeting of tho Pukekoho Borough Council tho foreman submitted a report of tho unoxponded balances of loan monies still available for certain road work within the borough, A report of those balances has appeared in tho '•Times.'' At last week's mooting tho Works Committee reported as follows:

"The committee hog tu rocouimend that tho balance of loan monies for the several streets ho oxponded as follows: "East street. A brick siiuij) to be put in and culvert made across road near Dr Wake's. Estimated cost £5. Form footpaths whore uecPSN&ry and fur same sft wide; estimated cost £25. Balance in metal and shingle " ITarris street. —£150 in shingle to 1)0 used as blinding for metal. '• Seddon street—Chips to bo placed on footpaths where necessary, Scoria with shingle blinding to be placed on road as far as the money will allow.

''Footpaths,—The connuittoo also I rocommend that line scoria bo mod j on footpaths outside the main street in place of metal chips.'' The Mayor said this represented about 100 or 500 yards of shingle. Cr Connie asked what should bo done with the Cape Hill road.—ln this connection the Pukokohe West Road Board handel over to the Borough Council about 1300 for construction work. This work is now completed and there still remains in liand about £MO. —The Mayor and Cr Comrie wore deputed to go into the matter and report. Cr Bilkey said there was about £IOO authorised for expenditure on Dynes' road and Borosford stroot. He wanted to know about it.—Tho reply was that although tho work had been authorised it was docidod that it could not be done until tho winter was over. The committee'* report wau adopted.
