A railway ball is tu be held at Pukckahe on September 3rd.
A passenger carriage will be attached to-mcrrow night to the goods train leaving Auckland at 9.26.
At the last meeting of th 3 Pukekohe Borough Council the Building Inspector reported that for the year ending March 31st, 1914, 59 building permits were granted, and the total value of the buildings erected was over £20,000. The many friends of Mr C. Clarke, of the Pukekohe hotel, will regret to learn that his eye trouble has necessitated his being conlined to a private huspital in Auckland for apeciil treatment. So far no material improvement is reported.
The Pukekohe Association Football Club dance, held in the Premier Hail last night, proved another very successful function, and all those present thoroughly enjoysd themselves. Music was supplied by Miss Pulleng ar.d Mr Hindmsn, piano and cornet respectively, whilst *xtras were pi iyed by Mi£Bes Milne and Nelson and Mr Latta. The fallowing tenders were received by Mr F. W. Mountjoy, architect, for the erection of shop and office premises for Mr C. K. Lawrie: P. MacpherEon £335, W. H. Fausett £312, U. W. Lindsey £312, fcj. Smith £3OB, S. H. Gallagher £283, R. Bradbury £261 3s 6d. Mr Bradbury's tender has been accepted.
At yesterday's annual meeting of members of the Franklin A. and P. Society, Mr D. R. Hpmilton was unanimously elected as president. Many hopes had been expressed that Mr J. Wylie would continue in office for another year, but since he was unable to do eo the members had the satisfaction of knowing that in Mr Hamilton the tociety had a worthy and able successor to the presidency.
A lady from Auckland is prepared to form a dancing class for ladies and gentlenvn should lufficient inducement off.r. The courses will include ordinary ball-room dances, and aleo the Singl? Boston, Cm Step, Double Boston and Ballroom Tango as danced in Auckland ballrooms; also a class for step and fancy dancing for children. Terms, one guinea per quarter. Simpson, Pukekohe, At last night's meeting of the Farmers' Class in the Pukekohe Technical School further tests with milk, cream and skim milk were made. One member, dissatisfied with the running of his separator, tested the skim milk and found it to contain .12 per cei.t butter-fat. Tests by other members with okim milk from well-running separators showed as low as .02 per cent. After this the complete Gerber test was demonstrated. Members remarked on the clearness of the fit column and the ease ard quickness with which test was made. Afterwards a short lectire was given on cow-testing, its nature and benefits Next Thursday night "Bookkeeping" i 3 to be the subject.
The 12th annual meeting uf the N. Z. Jersey Breeders' Association was hfld at Wanganui on 15th July. There were 40 members present. Membership and sUrk entries show a steady increase. Up to date rome 140 Jersey cows have been qualified undrr the Government semi-official tes\ Th2 new council are:—President, Mr R. J. Linn, Taranaki. Vice-president, Mr H. E. V. Watson, Canterbury. Members, Messrs A. E. Wilkinson, Auckland; W. J. Hall, South Auckland; W. H. Booth, East Coast; C. G. C. Dermer, Manawatu: E. Leppcr, Taranaki; W. M. Tapp, secretary. The herd book, volume 11., showed 1250 entries for the year. The next meeting will be held nt Hamilton during Winter Show week.
