AKA AKA DRAINAGE BOARD
July Meeting.
The monthly meeting of the above took place at Waiuku on Saturday; present—Messrs G. Hull (chairman, J. Walters, R. Hudson, E. T. Bent and W. J. King (clerk and treasurer).
Mr Hudson reported that all work of cleaning drains and creeks was now done, and there would be a respite for a few months.
A complaint was received that the upper part of the Eastern drain was filling with wee J s and required cleaning and that a good deal or silt was coming down from where the Public Works Department was draining up above.—The discussion showed that the drain should be in good order, and that the Department was requested to make provision for stopping th? silt coming down before the work was started. - Messrs Hudsun and Bent were appointed to inspect and report on the matter.
The clerk's statement showed a credit balance of £8 lis, and outstanding rates of £25, which he was instructed to collect as soon as possible. Accounts were passed for £l6, of which £ll was f»r interest charges on loan monies.
The clerk read particulars of the annual balanco-sheet, showing rato revenue £3Ol 1 Its 3d, special rates io7 10s 10d and Government grants £l)2 Its, with a credit balance of £.'!',».) from the year previous. Expenditure set down 1104 for drains and watercourses, £•'>'.! interest on loans, !J2lO Hood gates and deepening of Eastern drain. There was a credit balance of £10:1 10s Od.
