I'ukekuhc played ttiu Brotherhood in Auckland on Saturday, the game resulting in a win for the Brotherhood by one goal to nil. Although t' e grourd wa3 in very bad order the game was at times remarkably fast. At the end of the lirst half there waa no score, although l'ukckoho had tli3 town team hard I ressed and were within an ace of sccrirg on several occasions. Immediately after the start of the second half the town team scored the first and only goal. For the rest of the spell I'uktkohe were strongly apgressive, hut the defence of the Brotherhood goalkeeper was tno sure. The fcllowing extract from the Auckland "Ster" shows the good opinion held of Pukekohe players in the ci'y. Writ's our cont mcorary :"A cluti tl.at deserves well at the hands of Auckland footballers is the keenly-enthusiastic Pukekohe Club. Their administration is a model to any flub, their football recoid is chan and one ti he pr- ud of, and their hospitsl;ty to the strarger is a by-word in football circles. No one evfr yet played at Pukekohe without enjoying the experience. The local players give a clean game and a s'renuous tussle, and after it is oveV they spare no trouble to make the visitirg players fee 1 at -'home. Every team that goes from town is entertained at tea by the Pukekohe Club before the departure cf the train for the city. This being ep, it is with a certain feelirgof sharre for some of our city players that ce l'arrs of instances cf thouehtlessness in their tr a'meit ut the Pukekovies. If a team cannot go cut to Pukekohe in its proper turn, the least that c= n be done is to give advice of the fact in plenty cf time. The most recent instance of default on the part of a town team that was booked to play at Pukekohe was the more unfortunate in that a telegram of inquiry sent the night before was cot even acknowledged. All arrangements fur the enttrtainmert of the expe ted visitors was made in the usual generous way, but the fukekohe Club was saddled with that expense without any recompense of a game with the visitors, who wculd have been made welcome, or even of an apology 10~, perhaps, unavcidable absence." The trcuble ment'o ed came quite through a misunderstanding, and a letter cf apology has been received from the deb in question.
