Prices For Stock.
[to the editor.] Sir,—l would like to suggest to the various branches of the Farmers' Union in the Waikato the desirability of trying to arrive at the causes which are responsible for the fluctuations in prices at the Westfield market. I refer especially to the prices of beef and mutton. At one sale prices are good ; at the next stock are practically bring given away. Is it that the Waikato is producing more stock than there is a demand for on tho Auckland market, is it that regulation of supplies is requiied, or is it that outside purchases are interfering with the market ? It is of great importance to the farmers that the market pi ices should be uniform, and if the causes which are responsible for tho extreme variation in prices are ascertained and a remedy suggested it would be of great benefit to the farmer.—l am etc, WAIKATO FAEMEE.
