Railway Department's Tightness.
An esteemed Buckland corrcnpordent writes :
Much disappointment is felt Ht the decision of tha Minister for Kailwiys not to haul over the old railway track between Buckland nnd Tuakau stations without cost to the local governing body Tie pric; pit on the abandoned track by tha Minister (£1000) is regarded as u ridiculous figure. Ratepayers and the public generally arc UEonimoua that the track, if converted into a public road, would be of distinct advantage to the various localities, but at tha same time opinion h freely expressed that tha ratepayers' money should not be utilise! for the purchase of this remnant if the Department's property.
At tha pace at which the noxious weeds are growing and spreading the land will upon bocoma an eyesore to the district and local bodies might, with advantage, request the Governmmt to send their noxious weeds inspector to view the land,
