The Rev. H. Robjohns, of St. Matthew's Church, Auckland, and secretary of the Rible-in-Schools League, will preach at St. Andrew's Church, Pukekohe, on Sunday evening, ard address a meeting of the Bible-in-Schoos League in the Salvation Army barracks on Monday evening.
Sixteen pupils were present at the opening of the farmers' Classes at the Pukekohe Technical School on Thursday right. The subject dealt with by the instructor, Mr Donnan, was "the soil." As soon as the laboratbry is fully equipped practical demonstrations in milk testing and other experiments will be carried out.
The New Zealand Dairy Association central factory at Pukekohe discontinued butter-making at the end of May to allow of the annual overhaul of machinery and plant being undertaken. In the meantime, supplies of cream usually received from skimming stations in the Lower Waikato are being lorwarded to the Association's Ngaruawahia factory, and the latter factory's work will in turn be transferred to the Pukekohe factory on the resumption of operations early next month, when the overhaul cf the plant at Ngaruawahia will be undertaken. Operations at Pukekohe have not been entirely suspended, as regular work has to be carried out in connection with the butter in cool storage, and portions of the machinery will be kept working alternately to maintain an even temperature in the three freezing chambers. An extremely busy time baa been experienced at the factory since the commencement of spring, and during the flush of the season the output of manufactured butter exceeded by two tons per day the quantity turned out during the corresponding period of last season.
