THE BOROUGH ROADS.
And County Metal Traffic At its last meeting the Franklin County Council were waited upon by a deputation from the Pukekohe Borough Council. The deputation comprised the Mayor and Cr Comrie. Mr Lawrie said they had come in connection with the carting of metal over the roads in the borough. His Council thought that the county should contribute something towards the use of the roads during the winter months. Before the county came into office the Pukekohe West Koad Board had an agreement with the Borough Council wheieby they paid 3d p3r yard. The roading problem was a tremendous big thing to fa:e. He thought either that the Council should contribute something or not cart at ail during the winter months. Cr Comrie said he had nothing to add, except to corroborate the views put forward by the Mayor. The chairman (Mr Motion) said the borough had taken them by surprise. However, the County Council would confer about tbe matter and advise the deputation as to their decision. Ihe matter was not further discuHscd at the sitting, as some councillors had train appointments and had to get away.
