Cr J. Flanagan, of Drury, has been appointed to represent the Franklin County on the advisory committee of the Pukekohe Technical School. Speaking at yesterday's meeting of the Franklin County Council the chairman (Mr Motion) said if he lived closer to Pukekohe he would attend the larmers' class at the Technical School. A public meeting of those interested in the Lawrie testimonial will be held in the Library on Monday evening, June Bth, Tha Rev. C. C. Harrisons's subject at the Men's Own meeting on Sunday afternoon in the Oddfellows' Hall will be: " Unshakable Things.'' Nixun, Presbyterian Minister in Charge of ths Pukekohe parish, landed in New Zealand from Scotland on Monday, and has arrived in Pukekohe. Mr Warnock will take up his duties on Sunday. The Loyal Pukekohe ledge met on Tuesday evening last, wheu a good i attendance was recorded in spite of \ tha rain. Council decided that they could not I legally take the contractor's deposit ; money (against which a lien had been I registered) for pavment to the workj man. The members of the commission appointed to report upon the various canal proposals to improve the inlaud waterways of the Auckland province are now in Auckland holding meetings of a private and informal nature. Yesterday afternoon the members inspected ihe route of the proposed canal between the Waitemata and Manukau harbourj by way of the Tamaki. They were accompanied by Mr W. H. Hamer, Harbour Hoard engineer, and Mr J. E. Tavlor, who hai strongly advocated this loute. Ihe Whau route is to be inspected be lore the members of the commission leave Auckland, acd it is probable that preliminary inspections oMhe Wai-kato-Manukau and the WaikatoWaihou canal routes will also be made.
