The monthly meeting of the above League was held on Monday evening, Mr Dynes Fulton presiding. Members attending took a kern interest in matters under discussion. PROPOSED BUCKLAND-TUAKAU KOAD. Correspondence was tabled from the Hon. Minister for Railways stating definitely that there was no prospect of the old line being handed over free to the Franklin County Council, it was understood from the dißcussion that followed that the Government expect £IOOO fur the proposed road, the old line. An alternative road was suggested running through Ryder's, Waterhouse's and Jamieson's properties, but members seemed tu think the route impracticable. However, a small committes wsa appointed to investigate and report. BLIND ROAD BY CREAMERY. For some years ratepayers whose properties front upon a short piece of road by the creamery—really a continuation of Liverpool street —have been trying to get the road in question dedicated, as cream carting ani other traffic keep it in a very bad state every winter. The League have placed a resolution in the bands of Cr Pultun with the request that he bring the matter before the Council with the idea of getting the road dedicated and put in reasonable

repair. SCHOOL AFFAIRS. Lengthy discussion tuok place upon the various merits of infant and side school?, the exact rcope of each and the likelihood of either being established in Tuakau. It was finally decided to instruct the

League secretary to write to the chairman of ttie local school committee and ascertain, if possible, if their committee aie prepared to recommend the establishment of an infant school in the township. This is a jreparatory step to bring the matter before the Board of Education. TOWN BOARD. J The League have received official intimation that the request of residents to be allowed to form a Town Board has been granted. As a result of the recent Commission the proposed boundaries have been nightly altered. A portion of Smeed's and Fulton's farms have been cut out and the boundary along River road extended to take in part of Mr Collins' property. It was pointed out that some time must elapse before rolls can be prepared and the area gazetted, and the League are soliciting the services of Mr Bollard, M.P., to try and get the remaining preliminaries pushed through as soon as possible.
