THE BOROUGH ROLL

Was there any Objection?

At Wednesday's Meeting of the Pukekohe Borough Council tho borough solicitors' opinion ou the contention raised by the Ratepayers' Association that an objection had been entered agaiust the drainage loan proposals was read as follows:—"We beg to advise you that the protest is not in order. The regulations under " The Local Bodies Loans Act, 1 ( J08," provides that any person whose name appears on the roll and who objects to any matter or thing contained in the special roll, or who objects to the omission of any matter or thing from the said roll and who desiies such objection to be heard, shall give duplicate wiitten notice to the local body within seven days alter the last day on which the roll was deposited and such objection shall be heard before a Stipendiary Magistrate as in tho regulations provided. Now this objection is not by a person whose name appears on the roll, the Ratepayers' Association not being a person as provided by the regulations unless such Association is the owner of rateable property in the borough : moreover, the objections set out in the letter from the Pukekohe Batepayers' Association to your Council do not deal with any matter or thing contained in the said roll."
