Cordial reference was made by the various speakers to Mr Finluy'a long connection with tha district, ten years of which time he hai been member for the Buckland division of the Fukekohe Went Road Board. The evening's entertainment wound up with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne" ar.d "'Jod Save the King." WINTER. The district is i:ow beginning to wuar a wintry look and grass is disappearing veiy fast. Most of the settlors have commenced feeding hay to the stock, FARMERS' UNION. The Farmers' Union meeting which was advertised for thj ltith mst. had to be put off owing to the miserable stole ot the weather, (inly three members turning oet. Mr Neal represented the Auckland branch at the annual provincial conference, held in Auckland Ijst week. „ SOCIAL. The social to be held next Friday evening in the hall promises to be a great success. It is being promoted and carri;d out solely by the ladies of the district, who are sparing no efl'ort to arrango and carry cut the details. As nearly a hundred invitations have been sent out should the weather keep fine a big crowd may b3 expected. HOCKEY. Melville, W. J. Jefferis, 11. Driver and James Wylie. At a subsequent meeting of tha trustees Mr Wylie wag appointed chairman ard Mr Driver secretary. THE SHOOTING SEASON.
