On Sunday last there was a very » encouraging attendance of men at i the Men's Own Mooting held in the . Oddfellows' Hall. Mr \Y. Coster presided and Mr J. IMlhouse'i'ead a vory thoughtful and helpful paper on "The Love of Knowledge " which provoked favourable comments from 6overal of the members ' present. Mr McKay sang a solo very acceptably. Hearty thanks were tendered the chairman, Mr Bellhouse and soloist and an enjoyable and profitable meeting was brought to a close at 1 p.m. promptly.

Ihe annual meeting of the i'ukekohe District Golf Club wss held on Tuesday evening. Nir.e members were present, Mr Bockett in the chair. The balance sheet showed a credit balance of *£l2 Os 4d; receipts £29 10?, expenditure £l7 9s Bd. Officers elected wcre:-Presi dent, Dr Bronte; vice-president, Mr Joseph Adams; captain (re-elected), Mr H. Bockett; committee, Messrs Grigur, Hovey and another; secretary, Mr H. Coibett; treasurer, Mr Hopkins. Six new members were elected. It was decided to open on Saturday, 23rd inst., when a mixed foursome match is to be played, players ta arrange their own partners.
