THE FLOWER SHOW. The annual nreeting of the Rama Rama Flower Show and Industrial Exhibition was held in the school on Monday evening, May 11th. There was a good attendance of members. Mr Stephenson occupied the chair. The treasurer's balance sheet was considered very satisfactory, showing a credit balance of £ls 19s Sd. The officers and committee were elected for the ensuing year. Mr F. Ballard was re-elected as president; Messrs W. Sharp, senr., and Mr G. Stephenson vice-presidents; Mr H. Pilkington, secretary; Mrs W. J. D. Sharp, treasurer; executive committee, Messrs 8. The president, in a neat speech, thanked the officers and committee for the splendid way in which they all turned out and worked for the last show, also ail those who had helped to make the bay at the Franklin Agricultural show the success that it was. The prize money, £6, will considerably augment the funds of the society.
Mr Stephenson also spoke very highly of the services of the secretary, and voiced the feeling of the members in the pleasure they felt at Mr Pilkington accepting reelection. It was decided to hold the next show on Wednesday, November 18th. The schedule was revised and the secretary instructed to get it into the hands of the "limes" office as soon as possible. The next meeting will be held in August. INTEKESTING SCHOOL FUNCTION. A very pleasing ceremony took place at the publio school, when Miss McNaughton, assistant teacher, who has severed her connection with the Education Board, took leave of her scholars. Mr Maclauria, headmaster, on behalf of the scholars, presented her with a very handsome breakfast service, while a number of the children each appsared with a small prcrint, showing the esteem in which their teacher was held. Mr Maclautin, in his report to the committee, spoke very highly of the work Miss McNaughton had done, also of the present relieving teacher, Miss Parry. Miss Reynolds does not take up her duties till June Ist. BETTER ROADS WANTED. The Kama Rama ratepayers would like to know if any of their rates are to be spent on the main roadsj in Rama Rama by the County Council. I am sure if some of the Council members would pay a visit to the Rama Rama-Ararimu mad they would think it time something was done. They might even give us a footpath, but we will be quite content if the road is metalled so that we can walk along it instead of taking flying leaps over lakes of mud and water.
