THE DOG CLASSES.

At The A. and P. Show. In our report of the last show of the Franklin A. and P. Society Eome needed improvements in the dog and poultry classes were pointed out. Since then the judge, Mr G. K. Hutchinson, has written to the Society ad follows: "I should like to take this oppor-

tunity of making the following suggestions to you, if you think it worth while to enlarge on these two branches of your show. "You will never get the large breeders and fanciers unless, taking the dog section first, you get a license from the New Zealand Kennel Club to bold this show, as exhibitors and breeders wouli be disqualified from showing with you. I feel sure the Auckland Kennel Club wojld assist a sub-committee if set up by your Society, and advise them as to the means of making it public that you hold this show, and I believe it would also be supported with entries which would be from an educational point of view of great service to your district, if asked to do so. The txpense is small. - I

believe the New Zealand Kennel Club grants licenses to agricultural societies as low as one guinea for one day ehows. To show you to what extent this can be worked up, the dog show held in connection with the Wanganui Agricultural Society is the moat successful canine fixture in New Zealand, and 1 think the one held in conjunction with the spring show at Palmerstoo North comes jVery close to pame. applies to the poultry , section. If you are affiliated with the New Zealand Poultry Society you would probably get a number of fanciera in Auckland to send their birds, providing accommodation was better than at present for a one day show, and they might be pleased of ihe opportunity to show their young birds at your show, coming es it does some three months before the Auckland fixture.

"Excuse me for making the&e suggestions, but they are made in the true interests of your Society, and are made from the knowledge | have of both the poultry and dog fancy as governed in New Zealand."
