Annual Meeting^

There were present on SaturdayMeans J. Batty (chairman), Schlaepfer, Sutton, Jo'hniton. NEW PAERATA ROAD.

Mr Schlaepfer reported he had arranged for the digging of a drain at the big Bwamp. The work had' reached the road and would ha finished in a ten day*. KARAKA BRIDGES.

The secretary of the Marino Department adviied the Board that the plaus of the bridges had been approved and tnc Board was authorised to cany on the work subject <o the condition that the Board took full reiponsibility for the safety of the structure. "That's good. We can now procesd," remarked the chair* man. MEIALLING. The chairman reported that Bruce's contract for carting on the Drury-Waiuku and McPherson'a roads would be completed in a few days. Whether metal should be put on the new formation on the Drury* Waiuku road opposite Swann'ti (the contract for carting metal having been let) was the subject of soma discussion, one member expressing the opinion that if it was "it would sink out of sight." It was resolved to ask the engineer to inspect thia portion of the road and give hia opinion on the matter of metalling it. Members agreed that it was too late to let anv more contracts for metalling.

COSSEY'S ROAD.

Mr Johnston mentioned that Messra Storey and Sutherland had seen him and suggested that the road should ■be formed and metalled. About three chains of formation were reGannon to inspect the road in company with Messrs Strong, Sutherland and Johnston with a view to forming I it. FORMATION. "Unless you are approached by the ratepayers affected it ii better for the Hoard not to undertake any more formation on any roads at present," was the opinion of the chairman, which was endorsed by the other members. It was decided to inform tho engineer that in the Board's opinion it would be undesirable to proceed wifh any heavy forming or filling-in works, especially on the main roads, during the bad weather. MEETING OF RATEPAYERS. Mr MacPherson was the only ratepayer who was present, and on account of the absence of tome necessary papers the meeting was adjourned until May 16th, at 3 p.m.
