AT THE BOROUGH COUNCIL

Fortnightly Meeting. There were prasent on Wednesday:—The Mayor (Mr C. K. Lawrie), Crs Comrie, Bilkey, Beatty, Hurley and Hamilton. SCORIA Cr Hamilton reported that the result of the interview with the Traffic Manager was that he had promised to forward the scoria as speedily as he could. HALL STREET. Cr Comrie said he Had inspected that portion of Hall street from the post office to the county office and it needed attention. He would move that a wooden kerbing be put along the footpath, the water channel cleaned out and deepened and the footpath attended to.—Seconded by Cr Beatty and carried. JACKSON'S CORNER. Cr Beatty reported he haJ inspected the footpath at Jackson's corner and could see nothing wrong with It. In his opinion erection of posts was dangerous and he recommended that no action bd taken. LOOSE METAIL. Attention was drawn to the advisability of raking loose metel into ruts and holes, and the Mayor considered it would be a good idea to employ a man all the year to attend to this. BLINDING. Cr Comrie asked if any word had been received when the blinding would arrive. Harris street needed blinding and banking; otherwise there would be the same bother with loose metal as on the other roads. The foreman replied the blinding bad commenced arriving. HARRIS STREET. Cr Hutley complained of cattle being driven along the footpaths in Harris street. He stated that he had seen three motors diiven down the footpath. He moved, That a sign be pat up at the end of the street notifying drovers that cattle must be driven down the back road. — Carried. PRINCESS STREET. The clerk reported that the name of the road commonly known as Hickey's corner was Princess Btreet. EAST ROAD. it was decided to use the scoria on the railway to raise East street in front of Roulston's store. STRAYING CATTLE.

Cr Hurley reported that he had seen the poundkeeper in reference to Mr Hickev'a complaint of straying cattle. The poundkeeper said he had made three trips and never seen any ' BOUNDARY PEGS. Crs Comrie and Hamilton were appointed to meet the representatives of the County Uounc'.l in regard to determining the boundaries between the borough and the county. METAL CRUBHING.

P. McSheen waited on the Council in regard to spawling and crusEirg metal dt Motion's quarry during the winter.—lt was resolved to have 1500 yards crushed and stacked on the top of the hill, and the Mayor and Cr Comrie were appointed to draft an agreement.
