Drainage Board Meeting. llioso present at the last meeting of the Drainage Boa.d were: Messrs Hull (chairman*. Henry, Hudson and Walter?. Re Mangawhero creek: Mr Walters reported that after a lengthy conference with the ratepayers interested the Board agreed to contribute half the amount of rates collected over the area atrected towards the cost of improvements to the creek, provided that the work is completed to tl.e Bjard's satisfaction. The question of the B.iard assuming control was left in abeyance for the present. Mr Henry stated that .J. Cowcll had agreed to clear the Upper Aka Aka and Hermitage drain at 23 6d per chain. Mr Hudson sail that the work in the Lower Aka Aka was piacticslly completed. J. Cowcll would deepen a section of the Eastern drain on shown for All per chain.—Agfccd to.
Messrs Wallers and Hull reported that all works were in n forward stat j , Several of the drains had been satisfactorily tleared and dragged. The contractor win well forward with hii work in the Kastfcrn drain. Arrangements had been made with Eisetihut and McDonald to cut and drag drains at Is 21 per hour. Reference was made by several members to the damage done to public drums by stock and it was resolvjJ that the several owner* j concerned be writt?n to drawing j their attention to the matter, to kindly request them to remove the j flips caused thereby and to suggest i the advisability of erecting fences ito protect the drains from similar I damage in the future. Accounts totalling £IOO were passtd for payment.
