WAIUKU.
FARMED - UNION ANNUAL MEETING. At the annual meeting of the Waiuku branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union there was a fair attendance cf mmucrs, the president, Mr C. Hodgkinscn, being ehanman. The rrport Bhowed that tbe past year had been a very satisfactory one. The membership had risen from 87 to 125. The treasurer's balance sheet showed: Receipts £7l 10s 33, expenditure £35 13 j , balance in bank and in hard £35 17s 31. It was also shown that the sports lately held in connection with the union had passed over satisfactorily, and After payiog all claims there was still a substantial balance in hand.' The report an! balance sheet having been unanimously adopted, it was resolved, on the mothn of the president, to place on record the ready response given by members of the Waiuku branch in volunteering as special constables and waterside workers during the late strike, thereby assisting in an early settlement.
x The following were elected officebearers and committee for the ensuing year:-President, Mr C. Hodgkinsun (re-elected); vicepresidents, Messrs D. Hayes, A. M. Barriball, A. L Hull and H. P. Mellsup; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. L. West (re-elected); committee, Messrs J. T. Jones, H. W. Smith, S. E. Baniball, R. Jame?, C. J. Hoskinj?, fe\ N. West, and C. J. West; auditor, Mr H. King. Twelve new members were elected. CRICKET.
A cricket match was played on the Domain ground on Friday and Saturday between the Croydon Club, Auckland, and the Waiuku Gab, resulting in an easy win by an innings and 24 runs for the local team. Ths scores were:-Croydon: First innings, 130 runs; second innings, 104: total, 234. Waiuku, 258. The c 1 ief srcrers for Croydon were: First innings, Kingston not out 46, W. Taylor 21, H. Wilson 21. Second innings: Kingston 53, W. Taylor 16, and H. Taylor 12. Minogue was the mojt successful with the ball, taking five wicket?, For Waiuku the best scores were made by Dr Howden 101, M. Aldred 69, and S. Cromwell 43. The most successful bowlers Were M. Aldred 10 wicket?, S. Harris eight.
