MANY HAPPY RETURNS.
Go Sunday last the Right Hon. the Prime Minister (Mr W. F. Massey) celebrated the 58th anniversary of his birthday. He was born in Londonderry, IrelanJ, on March 29th. 1856. Educated in his native city Mr Mas:ev arrived in Auckland in 1869 in the ship f'ity of Auckland, his parents having preceded him by about nina years. He first sought Parliamentary honours in 1893, standing for his present electorate (Franklin) against Major Harris. He was defeated, but, it the lollowing year, he won the Waitemata seat, and at the subsequent election became representative for Franklin, which position he has held ever since. Mr Masaey has been Prime Minister since the defeat of the Mackenzie Government in July, 1912, and a Privy Councillor since the beginning of the present year. It is pleasing to know that the comparative rest during the Parliamentary recess has restored Mr Massey to health and we join in wishing him many happy returns of the day.
