This ttatement provoked membsrs to ask what it was that was required. The chairman said it was no uee going into matters of ancient history; tis word in any case waa as good as Mr Shioherd's so far as those affairs were concerned. From previous reports readers may remembtr that the Board paid these contractors a sum of money, when their contract was determined, which the Board held included the amount to be paid for royalty. When the matter waa formerly discussed members expressed sympathy with Mr Shipherd's position. After threshing the matter out again the Board resolved: "That if Mr Shipherd recovers judgment against the contractors, and if upon issuing an execution it is found that there are no effects, the Board will pay an amount to Mr Shipheri not exceedirg £9." This led the Board to deal with a similar trouble wit i Mr Woller, and, in terms similar to those of Mr Shipherd, it was decided to pay Mr Woller 6d per yard royalty on all metal obtained by Strongman and Fausett for the purposes of their contract with the Board. ANOTHER ROYALTY CLAIM.

Slade offered to put 25 or 30 yards of metal on Beloe's road within three months at 10s per yard. As Mr Slads would himself benefit he ottered to wait any time up to three years for payment. The offer was accepted. GENERAL.
The matter of letting a tender for 130 yards of metal /or Cox's road, northern sub-division, was left to Mr Wood*.
A request was received from seven ratepayers in the northern subdivision asking the Board to raise a loan of £l5O for the Rifle Karge road.—Left to Mr Boase and the clerk to attend to.
