WAIUKU SPORTS.

Farmers' Union Gathering. The Waiuku branch of the Farmers' Union held their annual sports and picnic in Mr A. M. Barriball's paddock on Thursday, March 12tn, under the management of the following committee:—Messrs C. Hodgkinson, W. Smith, H. James, J. C. Wallis, J. T. Jones, T. Miller, S. N. West, L. L. Mellsop, A. Hull, Hf O. Mellsop, J. Louden and W. L. West, secretary. Messrs T. Egan and J. Handing were handicappers, Mr J. Louden was starter, and Messrs D. Nell and K. Keid were judges. The day was beautifully fine, which brought a large gathering from Waiuku and surrounding districts, and everyone went home well pleased with the day's outing. The children were well looked after by Messrs C. # Hodgkinson and W. Smith, who attended to their races and served them with fruit and sweets. JJhe entries for ali the sporting events were in excess of any previous occasion, in the stepping competition there being no than 54 entries. The following are the results of the different events:—

100 Yards, open—F. Handing 1, L. Honey 2. 100 Yards, members only—L. L. Melllsop 1, Hoy Barriball 2.

McNamara 1, Peterson 2. Stepping compaction—lvor Barriball, 72yds 2ft 2in, I; J. (Jribble and J. Cain, 73yds, 2. Actual length, 72yds 2ft Bin. Married Ladies' Race-Mr.s T. McNamara 1, Mrs A. James 2. Stockmen's competition W. Hosking 1, L. J. Hosking 2. Half-mile-Peterson 1, P. Bright o Half-mile for boys-C. Wallis 1, Sommerville 2. Sheaf pitching—Roy Barriball 1, T. McUouald 2. Single Ladies' Race—Miss Bogue 1, Miss Have* 2. Flajj Race—L. Mcllsou's team 1, J. Grimmond'tf team 2. Steeplechase—Roy McDonald 1, A, Giilott 2. Pillow Fight-A draw for W. Louden and T. McDonald.
