LOCAL AND GENERAL.
In the first of the Men's Handicap Singles of the Pukekohe Lawn Tennis Club was plaved on Friday, when W. Lamunt, owe 20, beat U. Corbett, owe 10, 50—42. Users of the borough water supply should note that the water will be turned off all day oa Wednesday. Mrs J. Baxter was a sucbessful exhibitor at the Waitemita Show, getting second place foi- a crocheted jacket. Alfred Bucklacd and Sons sold by auction at the Haymarket on Friday, under conduct of the registrar of the Supreme Court, 3 acres at Pukekohe East for £2900. The following pupils of the Pukekohe Convent received passes at the examination in music theory, under the Trinity College of Music, preparatory division, held in Auckland on December 6th, 1913:—Gabriel Bodley 85, Hazel Smith 84, Unice Frost 81, Agnes Carter 63, Flora Bodley 63, Ruth Anderson 63, Violet Cocker 60. Candidates were required to gain at least 60 marks for a pass certificate. The State once more changed owners on the Pukekohe bowling green on Saturday when the holders (Roadley, Wright, Eaines and D. Roulston) were easily beaten by Hovey, Hewson, W. Blake and Clarke. Play was very loose, but the challengers commanded the great bulk of the scoring shots. With eight heads gone the score stood: Holdars 1, challengers 19. In the end the challengers won by 26 to 14.
