PIGEON SHOOTING.

Pukekohe Season Opened. Thtre was a gucd attendance at the range on Saturday when the Pukekohe Gun Club opened their eeason for pigeon shooiinp. A feature of the day was the large number of ladies present, who provided an excellent afternoon t-a. Th n . first shot was fired by the patron of club, Mr T. Kennelly, anc the second by the president, Mr Lawrie, who declared the teason open.

The day's sport opened with a five-bi:d sweepstakes, which cv*nt waa captured by W.,F. Johns, of Puni, 14 yard', with Jive lir.-t barrel birds. Gardner and Fauaett, 15 yard?, also got five birds, and in the shuot-otf for second place Gardner won. Other kills were:— Dayttb, 14 yards, 4; J. Kennelly, 11, 4; Wilson 17, McNally and Vujucich 14, R. McGough 12, ard E. McGo - .:gh 11 yards, 3 birds each; J. Wright and J. Reynolds, 14, 2 each; T. Rooee 12, J. Blake 11, 1 e^ch.

There were fourteen competitors tor tha Abbott Cup, and W. F. Johns, 14 yards, proved the winner with 8 first barrel birds. W. McNally, 14, web second with 8 birds, t-vo second barrel. Wilson 17, Fausett 16, Gardner 15 and Daysh 12 were well up with 7 birds each; Reynolds 14, Vujucich 14, McGough 12, L. Roote 12, Blake 11, 6 birda eacb; Kennelly 11, 5 birds; Wright 14, E. McGough 10, 3 tirds each. T#e shooting was splendid for a first day.

A second five-bird 6waepstakes was won by W. McNally with 5 birds, J. t'ausett being Eecond with four first-barrel birds. Other kills were:—Wilson, Vojucich and Dayeb, 4 each; Johns, 3; Blake, Kennelly, Wright and Gardner, 2 each; L. Roos?, 1. The day was fine and club members had a most enjoyable time. Sbcotists are looking forward with pleasurable anticipation to a most successful season.
