BUCKLAND.
FARMERS' UNION. The monthly meeting of the liuckland branch of the New Zealard Farmers' Union was held in the Buekland hall on Monday evening, l(jth inst. There was a fairly representative meeting. The principal busincraof the evening was to di?cuss the proposition of merging the Fukekohe West Road Hoard ir.to tne Counly Council. Cr Wilcox strongly urged the ratepayers to merge. After discussion the motion was carried unanimously Messrs Jcfferis an 1 Dealing were appointed to circulate a pitition and obtain the signatures of all ratepayers who favour merging, A letter was read re forming a Farmers' Union Mounted Yeomanry Corps. Atter discussion it was decided to let the secretary organise a committee and teat the feeling of the .people on the subject. A letter was read from the provincial secretary upon the question of developing the social and educational functions of the various branches of the Farmers' Union. This matter wa? deferred.
