With reference to the claim for £4 103 mar'e by the County Council on behalf of the old Mauku dutrict fs contribution due for road up-keep, it was decided to forward £1 10s. beirg tie contribution due up to the time that the County Cruncil began coll.'tti.g rate?. The deposit of Mr Porter, of Buckland, made some time a£o in connection with the dedication of a road, was returned. Application was made for permission to form footpaths in George streer, Bucklar.d, and for the Board to supply the scoria requirel for the road if the residents epread it.— This matter was left to Mr Finlay ti deal with ar.d it was subsequently decided to give the scoria. J. Beatty and J. Hogan called and requested the Board to open the road alorg the bou clary of the ts'.rich faro, between B;atty's road aid Paerata road.—The matter was left toMrßoase. It was exp:cled that about £5 word of wnrk would be done upon the road and the clerk is to write t3 the Karaka Road Board asking that Board for a contiibution towards the tost. The road is the boundary betwe.n Pukekche West and Karaka toad districts.
The Mayor, with Crs Ccrarie and Patterson, waiteJ upon the Board as a deputation from the Borough Council asking the Beard to contribute towards the cost of Puni road, inside the borough. They estimated that something over £3OO would b3 requi-td and suggested that the Board should pay halt'.—The Board replied that they tad no jurisdiction over this road so the deputation had come to the wrcg place. They expressed sympathy and suggested that the deputation should go to the County Council.—The Borough Council then asked if the board would join in an application to the County Council. This was- agreed to and Messrs West and Pilkington were appointed to act wi'h the deputation. Hogan and Hurley, who were carting meial to the Ostrich farm road at 3s per yard, were asked to continue carting to the RifU Ranee road. This they declined to do unless they were paid 3s 6d per yard. Ihe matter was referred to Mr Boase. Later it was ascertained that there was only another £2O to be spent on Rifle Ra-galroad. It W3S ltft to Mr Pilkington to arrange for the carting of spawh to Ptfni road from Reynolds' place. At Buckland the Board's quarry is in a creek. On one side of the creek Mr Bealing lives and Mr Perrin is on the other side. Bealing claimed haif royalty, but the Board appeared to think that Perii.i was entitled to the royalty. It waj decided to pay half the amount due to Perrin now and to v, ithhold the balance for a month to afford Bealing an opportunity of taking any action he thiughf lit. If no settlement were arrived at Perrin would be paid in full. A long discussion occurred abcut the balances left unspent of the allocations for various roat's.
Messrs West and Unlay were empowered to again see if contractors cculd be got t) carry out the work in the Hill No. 2 loan area, fiom Pollock's towards Pilki-gton's. The, money available is £650. but through the difficulty experienced in letting the contracts the period at which this money might be lifted is upon the puint of expiry. It was mentioned that work-on'the
Buckland No. 2 loan, Finlay's lane, had been completed and the last payment made. Slade's contact for a metal supply for Beloe's road had also proceeded as far as possible. A long list of accounts was
passed for payment, including £159 5s 5d to Patterson (Buckland work), £lll 7s 9d to Wilson (Rifle Range road), and £llß 17s 6d to Slade (metal Beloe's road).
