LYCEUM PICTURES.
The management announce that to-morrow night picture-lovers will have an opportunity of witnessing Bulwer Lytton's masterpiece, "The Last Days of Pompeii." With the men and customs ot feudal times we have a natural sympathy and bond of alliance. Those men were our ancestors. From them we have inherited the customs which, though changed, still govern much of our everyday lite. With the classical age, however, we have no such household or familiar associations. But there was ample material for a close student ot Roman legend and Roman histoiv to work upoo, and Bulwer Lytton wove a story round the remains of Pompeii of such surpassing beauty, and of such fidelity in detail, that it appeals just as strongly to the student as it does to the lover of romance. In every respect this work is acknowledged to be a portrait skilful in colouring, perfect in drawing, and faithful to the features and costumes of the age which it reproduces.
