KARAKA ROAD BOARD.
Special Meeting. A special nreting of the haraka Road Board fixed for January 27th lapsed for lack rf a quotum and was tdjourred till January 3lst, when three member.', Messrs Glassun, John3ton and Schlaepfer were present. iwr bchlaepf r was clecttd aclirg-chairman. NEW PAERATA ROAD. With regard to ths proposed deviaton at the north end of the new road to Paerata station, necessary to avoid ths s;vamp, Mr Schlaepfer announced that Mr Bitty had seen Mr Ambury, cue of the Wesleyan College trjstces, owners of the adjoining land, about it, and had come to a satisfactory arrargement. Mr Schlaepfer was authorised to get the swamp on the new Paerata road diained. TENDERS.
A tender was received for draining the swamp i.i the roaJ near Glasson's bridge, but it was decided to hold the matter over till next meeting. For catting 1000 yards of metal from Runciman railway station to the Drury-Waiuku road, fiom the Opahtkc parish boundary by Tcoman'B to No 2. School, the following tenders were received: J. Frazer and J. Whitford, Gs a yard; John Brady, Patjmahoe, to Tooman's 4s 9d, to Snelgen's bridge 5s 3d, to the 'school, 5s 9d; Charles Bruce, Auckland, to the school, 3s 6d a yard (accept:d). It was resolved that Mr Bruce should nuke his own arrargements for the de livery of mstal frcr-i J. J. Craig and Morningside Quarries, 500 yards having bsen ordered from each.
SURFACEMAN. It was resolved to advertise for a surfaceman, to spread the metal, applications to be in by February 10th. NEXT MEETING. Mr Schlaepfer mentioned that the date for the next ordinary meeting, February 21st, clashed with the Pukekohe Show, so it was decided to alter the date to February 14th; a meeting of ratepayers to be called t':e same diy for the purpose of cl.sin? two roads which the Board proposed some time ago to close. ACCOUNTS. It was' decided, subject to tne chairman's approval, to make a progress payment of £7b to Mr Gannon for engineering work on the main toad; also £5 5s for Paerata-Tuhi-mata road and £l2 12s for a map of the district. Other accounts amounting to £lO were passed for payment.
